Photo Passion

I have always loved to take pictures - even when I was little and all the heads of my family members were cut off thanks to my inexperience. I have about 10 cameras and 2 that are my absolute favorites. I remember a time not too long ago when I fought to keep my 35mm SLR camera! I did not want to switch over to digital - there were too many unknowns. Would I ever get the photos printed? What if my computer crashes?? All of those questions that now make me giggle because we are so beyond the simplicity of those queries. I have not even picked up my two 35mm SLRs in several years. Remember when you had to buy Black and White film just to take B/W pictures?? And then they came out with the film that you could use for color or black and white. It was easier but I only wanted to use B/W film and have it printed on B/W paper at my favorite photo store, Omni Images. Now you can do anything you want to your pictures - from black and white to Sepia to watercolor and the list goes on and on.... I am constantly taking pictures - I took over 3500 pictures when we were in China with Emma. When we are at the beach, the kids know that I will always be taking their picture. They indulge me with Family Beach Photo night maybe twice during the week. Emma loves for me to dress her up and take her down to the beach. I even pack our clothes for vacation thinking about how they will work with the photos I want to take. My dear friend Elizabeth has her kids pick out 4 shirts, 4 shorts, and a bathingsuit for their family trip to the beach. I think that sounds great (and so does my husband who has to carry all of our suitcases in), but I just can't do it! And when I look back at our photos I am so happy that I didn't. This blog is for past, present and future photos of our family. I have been wanting to do this for awhile and am dedicated to making it a reality this summer. It will be a way to share our photos with you and for us to have as a family momento. There have been so many past photos that I have wanted to share and just did not have the time to post them. For me, also, all of my favorite photos will be in one place and I can stroll down memory lane whenever I want. For a busy mom, that is a gift! When I am having a bad day with all of the 5 different personalities of my kids, I can look here and be refreshed by the faces reflecting sweeter times. ;o)
